In the UK we just had a parliamentary vote on a Bill in favour of legalizing assisted dying.
Most of the public believes this bill is about compassion and choice. “My sister took weeks to die while I had to watch her screaming with pain” is a powerful argument, but is it true? Did MPs just vote in the heat of the moment after hearing such claims? Claims which seem unlikely in view of the powerful end of life drugs now available?
The short article While There’s Life There’s Hope on my own website looks at an alternative agenda for this bill and shares the story of a cancer survivor who was literally on the verge of death before making a full recovery.
Don’t fall victim to empathy traps.
