The great vitamin fraud? Really?
Daniel Roytas MHSc (Nut), BHSc (Nat), Dip. RM, Dip. CH&AP is a naturopath, nutritionist, physical therapist, psychotherapist and truth seeker. After more than 10 years as a senior lecturer of nutritional medicine at a number of Australia’s leading colleges and universities, he decided to resign from his position and focus his attention on challenging the status quo on all things ‘health and wellness’.
In this video he discusses why vitamin supplements aren't what you think they are. I found his arguments about vitamin D supplements quite compelling. (Tip, use the little settings wheel on the video to speed up the playback, he speaks slowly.)

Good question Greg. The following link is a good site for nutrition information and is not controlled by bad guys. I seem to remember that it was set up by former colleagues of Linus Pauling: https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/encyclopedia/content.aspx?contenttypeid=19&contentid=vitamind
For some reason they left butter off the list, but you would need to eat a lot of butter to get significant amounts of vitamin D. Having said that, some chefs on TV like James Martin do use large amounts!
It would be difficult to remember to eat all those foods every day and we have no way of knowing whether the mushrooms we buy contain any vitamin D or not. The product I personally use for vitamin D supplementation is Green Pastures cod liver oil or skate liver oil capsules. They use a fermentation process to make the vitamin D more bio-available. Fish liver oil products also provide vitamin A, which must ALWAYS be taken with vitamin D unless you eat a meal of liver at least once a week. Vitamin A deficiency reduces the integrity of the skin and mucus membranes, making us more vulnerable to toxins getting into our body via that route, and promoting inflammation (sore throat, bronchitis, cough, etc). Vitamin A always used to be called the anti-infection vitamin before the cabal suppressed information about its benefits, just like they did with vitamin D.
Hi Linda, are you able to recommend a food source Vitamin D3 - like mushrooms or are there any natural substances that you know to be a good source. I've just read this article and am now wondering what to do - thanks
